Treasure Box With Photo Decals

This treasure box is all hand made with polymer clay - Sue Martin

Treasure Box with photo decals

I took a mixed media art class with Tammy Scott and learned how to make this fabulous box. I'm using it to showcase my father's military memorabila from WWII. The majority of the tiles were made from black Premo polymer clay by stamping designs into the clay, then coloring them with Pearl Ex powders. Other tiles were made from white Femo polymer clay and either painted, or stained with Ranger alcohol inks. I also added some glass tiles and stones, and some metal figures and photo frame.

The images were printed on waterslide decals and added to the baked tiles. I had so much fun making my first treasure box, that I decided to make another one for my brother, who loves artistic projects. The photo on his box is of my Mom, me and my four siblings taken on my 50th birthday. It was the first time in 10 years that we had all been together.

I bought the water slide decals online at McGonigal Paper and Graphics.
